Miami’s Real Estate – The Benefits of a Tainted Industry

This morning my associate and I had a meeting with a prominent businessman who is looking to partner up on one of our upcoming development projects. This whole situation took place because a very good friend of ours, who owns his own moving company, provided five-star quality service to the gentleman and went up and beyond to accommodate his move. During a casual conversation with the man, my friend referred to our company because he mentioned that he was interested in performing development here in Miami.

We scheduled a meeting with the individual early last week and actually met this very morning. He was very eager to meet with us and quickly illustrated his excitement to perform a development project with a young, ethical, and diligent team. The meeting went well and ended with us setting up another to go a bit more in-depth.

One of the reasons this referral stuck out with the man is because this industry is often associated with shady practices and even shadier people. As the Cubans say, “hay peste”; it smells. Fortunately and unfortunately, many of the dealings that go on in real estate development are frowned upon which opens the door for companies like ours to stand out in the crowd. It’s not often that you find a group of people that combine a moral backbone and the experience needed to get the job done right.

This leaves me with the idea that although I would like the industry to change for the better, I also kind of don’t. It allows us to be different and build relationships we may not have been able to if there was no “peste”, as they say.

One door closes and another door opens, change is good.
